SSWHL Code of Conduct:

The mission of SSWHL is to provide an atmosphere for women, non-binary, and trans-identified players to play safe, fun and competitive hockey, free of harassment or discrimination, in a supportive community committed to skill development and leadership.

While competition may become intense at times, we expect our players to treat each other with respect and maintain fair and positive behavior.

As members of this league, and by checking the box below, you hereby pledge to:

Emphasize the proper ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and fair play;
Be courteous and respectful to opposing teams, officials, timekeepers, and facility staff;
Encourage leadership, use of initiative, and good judgment by the players on your team;
Refrain from playing when sick and mask if you feel you are at risk of spreading illness;
Recognize that the purpose of SSWHL is to have fun and promote the physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being of the individual players;
Respect the officials’ judgment and interpretations of the rules while on the ice;
Accept seriously the responsibility and privilege of representing the SSWHL and your team;
Maintain self-control by keeping emotions in check, avoiding the use of abusive language or derogatory slurs, and not physically assaulting another player at any time.

SSWHL Waiver and Release of Liability

IN CONSIDERATION OF the risk of injury that exists while participating in ICE HOCKEY (hereinafter the "Activity"); and

IN CONSIDERATION OF my desire to participate in said Activity and being given the right to participate in same;

I HEREBY, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, assigns, or personal representatives knowingly and voluntarily enter into this WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY and hereby waive any and all rights, claims or causes of action of any kind arising out of my participation in the Activity; and

I HEREBY release and forever discharge SOUTH SHORE WOMEN'S HOCKEY LEAGUE, Inc., their affiliates, Board members, managers, members, agents, attorneys, staff, volunteers, heirs, representatives, predecessors, successors and assigns (collectively "Releasees"), from any physical or psychological injury that I may suffer as a direct result of my participation in the aforementioned Activity.

I AM VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN THE AFOREMENTIONED ACTIVITY AND I AM PARTICIPATING IN THE ACTIVITY ENTIRELY AT MY OWN RISK. I AM AWARE OF THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH PARTICIPATING IN THIS ACTIVITY, WHICH MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: PHYSICAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL INJURY, PAIN, SUFFERING, ILLNESS, DISFIGUREMENT, TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT DISABILITY (INCLUDING PARALYSIS), ECONOMIC OR EMOTIONAL LOSS, AND DEATH. I UNDERSTAND THAT THESE INJURIES OR OUTCOMES MAY ARISE FROM MY OWN OR OTHERS' NEGLIGENCE, CONDITIONS RELATED TO TRAVEL TO AND FROM THE ACTIVITY, OR FROM CONDITIONS AT THE ACTIVITY LOCATION(S). NONETHELESS, I ASSUME ALL RELATED RISKS, BOTH KNOWN AND UNKNOWN TO ME, OF MY PARTICIPATION IN THIS ACTIVITY.

I FURTHER AGREE to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Releasees against any and all claims, suits or actions of any kind whatsoever for liability, damages, compensation or otherwise brought by me or anyone on my behalf, including attorney's fees and any related costs.

I FURTHER AGREE to sign this agreement electronically. I agree that checking the box below is the legal equivalent of my manual signature on this agreement. By checking the box I am consenting to be legally bound by this agreement's terms and conditions.

SSWHL Photo Release

I authorize SSWHL to take my photo during games and league events, to post those photos on SSWHL social media, and edit them for advertising purposes. I agree that the photos belong to SSWHL, a non-profit organization. I understand that I will not receive any monetary compensation.

I agree with the above SSWHL Photo Release statement (If you leave this blank, photos may still be taken but they will never be used).

SSWHL Privacy Policy

If you do not have a team, follow these steps:

Learn to play: If you've never played before, you'll need some time to learn to skate and find a learn-to-play program. Contact us if you need help finding learn-to-skate programs or beginners skill sessions.
Join a team: If you know how to play, but don't have a team, fill out the "Find a Team" form below. This will send your information securely to team captains who will reach out if interested. The league may also reach out to form "at-large" teams from available players once the season starts.
Register with USA Hockey: Click here to obtain your annual membership. This requires a $46 payment and must be validated before you can play in SSWHL. If you need financial assistance, please contact us.
Register with SSWHL: Fill out the "Register with SSWHL" form once you have joined a team or if you are already on an SSWHL team.
Show up to skate: Communicate with your captain about your payment schedule, check your team page for game times, abide by the SSWHL Code of Conduct, and have fun!

Use these guidelines to determine your appropriate hockey level:

A Division: Elite hockey players who have had Olympic, National Team, Professional, Division 1, 2 or 3 college experience.
B Division: Experienced players, most have Division 2, 3 or club college experience.
C Division: Established players, some may have past college, club, or competitive high school experience but graduated at least 10 years ago.
C/D Division: Recreational players with no formal collegiate experience (intramural is acceptable). Players may have some youth/high school experience but are predominantly beginners/intermediate in their first 15 years of experience as an adult. Players who are over 50 or will turn 50 this year are able to play for this division regardless of high school and/or collegiate experience.
D Division: Recreational or novice players, most will have started playing hockey as an adult. Players who are over 60 or will turn 60 years old during the season are able to play in this division regardless of high school and/or collegiate experience.
